2010: The Year of the Future!

Hmmm, Hmmm, Hm-Hmmmmm... Hm-Hmmmmm!

Yeah that's right. It's the "future" now! Just look at this picture to think about the ramifications... What the heck happened to last year? I have had plenty of time over the last several months to evaluate what matters, and recognize all the experience and mentoring that has been offered to me from a wide spectrum of individuals. Much gratitude and now, it seems like I may finally be able to finish up some of the grand projects I had envisioned for last year, this year. (crosses fingers)

For starters I have begun relegating the JKenLive site into archive status. It has served me well but now it's time for something more to showcase new training and experiences acquired. It will remain in it's current form until I come up with a better use for the domain.
Another site I have been managing is also undergoing some new changes. They have had a lot a lot of activity building up and need something beyond the rudimentary HTML I layed out over 4 years ago. Some new starting layouts and code should be in the mail this weekend.
JKenMedia - this site will enter an experimental phase for a little while in the process of putting together some satisfying code for it as well as future projects. I'll have a link page to usual media outlets such as Youtube, MySpace and other artistic site venues while this blog will remain the active update source for both sites until everything else is sorted out.

There's a pile of music that needs to be published into somewhere, motion-graphic, video and game projects - a couple of stories I've been tooling around in my head, along with some hoop jumping to satiate everybody else. It's going to be a wild year and I'm looking forward to it -- in 2010!

jkenmedia Domain Now Live

Just finished figuring out how to get a second domain running from my server. Jkenmedia is now live as an independent website from JKenLive!
jkenmedia.com
Now all I have to do is build the matching website to go along with the domain. Not really much else for this post. Just some small steps towards the moon.

J-Ken Media, On Track Again...

So it seems I've been derailed in my quest to launch my very own media production empire. Half the year has past with little progress in the areas I had hoped.

Plans now, are to soon reveal a new JKen Media logo. I've been scribbling a few designs here and there, and have settled on a couple of concepts that to develop fully.

A mission statement is in the works with the overall theme of telling the story. Don't really think there will be much else to it except for the specifics of how JKen Media will help people to complete the stories they want to tell.

Have currently been preparing video snippets and highlights for U-CAP's projects across the country as well as their promotional materials. Looking to expand on this with the experience gained working in quality control for both video games and dvd/video production.

JKen Media will be a place where individuals can come looking for promotional logos in video and print along with narrative voice, original music and sound to go along with their projects to complete their story.

This blog will take over as the sounding board for current projects and news while the existing web site (jkenlive.com) will get scrapped in favor of a new JKen Media site that will primarily showcase projects and demos for interested parties.

That's all for now. More to come.

JKenLive 3d Animated Logo

Just finished re-rendering my old splash page logo from my website. This was what would play when a user would hit the home page of my URL. I decided to take it down because it seemed to detract from a fluid visit.
Currently I've been toying around with some different logo and text treatments for the new J-Ken Media freelance push I've been trying to get ramped up for this year. Using a different (custom) font style perhaps, and some animations that can be integrated into the site navigation.
That's all for now.

DOA3 Montage HD version

I was running through some of my old archived projects and came across the After Effects project folder for this clip. I decided to re-render it in HD and give it a go on with YouTube's new HD options. The picture quality is very impressive, but either some setting got reset before the render or it's just really showing it's age.

For best results view the video on the YoutTube page directly. Then you can see the full HD scale that YouTube offers. This was my first After Effects project, ever.

And, as you can see, I've also linked my blog to my YouTube account and will be trying it out some more.

Sticking To The Plan

It's been a little difficult to keep things focused with some the changes going on around here. So JKenMedia has had a bit of a time getting off the ground. A new place for development is coming together though and that should make things go a lot easier.

For now, I have gone ahead and parked the JKenMedia domain on my website. It merely takes you to... my website... of course. No biggie there.
The plan is to reformat the main page/portal with sound and graphic content - aka "media" - and then leave my blog for the regular updates of projects and works underway.
I've also been working on developing a new JKenMedia text logo that will carry over into the business side of things... As stated previously though, I have not been very rushed about it and things have been coming up to keep me busy otherwise.

That being said, I suppose it's time for me to just start doing it. Put up or shut up? Something like that. It's amazing how whenever I decide that something is the right thing to do, 10 other things pop up to compete for the attention... I should have an interim page for JKenMedia posted up soon. Maybe by the end of the week. Stick to the plan... Stick to the plan...

Change of Address

Time to relocate to a new haven of solace, vision and sound. Another difficult decision that will reflect more positives for the significant others in my family rather than myself. However there will be some selfish benefits to the move for me as well.

Behold, my old haven of sight and sound.

Cozy and and functional. But, I have lacked some elbow room and want to expand into other areas of design. With the new transition underway, I will be able to manage with a larger workspace and plenty of room for the miscellaneous hardware that some of my clients require.

That's it for this post. I'm going to be juggling these preparations for a little while but hopefully, things will proceed easily and without delay.

Updates and Such

Just finished editing some of the details in my online resume here to reflect my current status. New work and old work - all that jazz...
Time has been a little short with some things I can't talk about yet, so work on the JKen Media portal has been slight at best. There's been some user-error difficulties with establishing the new domain name as well as trying to decide the best way to proceed. Currently thinking about throwing up a splash page for the interim. Just to keep things rolling even if it's slower than I had planned.

Some new developments will hopefully make the delays worthwhile.

Laters...
